Creator Support: Receiving Payment

  • Updated

If a brand you're working with uses Dash Social to manage creator campaigns, you may receive an email inviting you to set up your payment profile. This article walks you through what to expect and how to get set up so you can ensure you’re paid on time, every time.

What to Expect

If a brand adds you as a payee in Dash Social, you'll receive an email from noreply@dashsocial.com with a link to set up your payment profile through a secure payment portal. Don’t worry, you don't need a Dash Social account.

💡 If you don't see an email, check your spam folder. It's a good idea to ask the brand to give you a heads up before the invite goes out so you know to look for it.

Setting Up Your Payment Profile

Follow the steps detailed below to accept the terms of service and set up your payment profile.

Step 1: Accept Dash Social's Terms of Service

Click the link in your email. Before anything else, you'll be asked to accept Dash Social's terms of service. This allows Dash Social to facilitate your payment. If you've done this before with another brand that’s using Dash Social, you will have to accept these terms of service again.

Step 2: Complete Your Payment Profile

After accepting the terms, you'll be directed to a secure payment portal to fill in your details. This includes:

  • Your personal or business information (name, address).
  • Your preferred payout currency and bank account details (you can usually find these on a void cheque).
  • Your tax form(s). This would be a W-9 if you're based in the U.S. or a W-8BEN if you're outside the U.S.

Your banking and tax information is entered directly into the secure payment portal and is never stored by Dash Social. Completed tax forms are required to receive payment. Ensure your information is correct, otherwise the brand won’t be able to pay you.

Step 3: Wait for Brand Confirmation

Once you've completed your profile, the brand will see your status update to ‘Active’ on their end, and they'll be able to send you payment, typically when your deliverables (number of posts) are complete.

Getting Paid

You don't need to do anything to trigger a payment. The brand you’re working with will initiate it from their end. When a payment is on its way, you'll receive an email notification letting you know.
How long it takes to land in your account depends on where you're located:

  • Domestic payments (same country as the brand) typically take 1–3 business days.
  • International payments typically take 3–5 business days.

You can log back into the payment portal at any time to check your payment history and status, or update your account details.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Who is Dash Social, and why am I receiving an email from them?

A. Dash Social is the platform the brand uses to manage their creator campaigns and payments. When a brand pays you through Dash Social, the invite and payment emails come from Dash Social directly. This is expected and legitimate.

Q. Is my banking information safe?

A. Yes. Your banking and tax details are entered directly into a secure, encrypted payment portal. Dash Social never stores your banking information.

Q. Do I need a Dash Social account to get paid?

A. No. The payment portal is completely separate from the Dash Social app. You don't need to sign up for anything, just follow the link in your invite email!

Q. The brand I’m working with says my status is showing as incomplete. How do I fix this?

A. This means your payment profile isn't fully set up yet. The most common reasons are a missing or incorrect bank account information, missing address, or an outstanding tax form. Log back into the portal using your invite link to see what's missing and complete your profile. If your link has expired (links are valid for 7 days), ask the brand to resend it.

Q. What tax form do I need to fill out?

A. If you're based in the U.S., you'll need to complete a W-9. If you're outside the U.S., you'll need to complete the appropriate W-8form. These are collected through the payment portal as part of your profile setup.

Q. Will I receive any tax documents at the end of the year?

A. It depends on your tax status. If you have completed a W-9, you may receive a 1009-NEC. If you’re a non-US person and have completed a W-8, you may receive a 1042-S. Tax documents from the brand are delivered through the payment portal at year end.
