If you’ve previously accepted a connection from a brand on TikTok or Instagram through Dash Social and need to revoke it, here’s a guide to help you maintain control over your connections.
Understanding Connections and Shared Data
When you connect with a brand, they gain access to detailed metrics about your content @mentioning them such as views, engagement rates, and audience demographics. This connection is established through an invitation you accept via email or a direct link.
To learn more about what data you provide to brands, read FAQ: Connecting to Dash Social as an Influencer or Creator.
Steps to Revoke a Brand Connection
1. Via Email:
- If you initially accepted the connection through an email, you can revisit the same message to find an option to disconnect. Follow the link provided in the original email to access the option to revoke access.
2. Via Facebook and TikTok App Settings:
- Instagram:
- Go to your Facebook Settings since your Instagram professional account is likely linked to a Facebook business page.
- Navigate to ‘Business Integrations’.
- Look for Dash Social in the list of integrations and select it.
- You can choose to remove or delete the integration. This action will sever the connection, changing your status to “Revoked” in the brand’s dashboard.
- TikTok:
- Open TikTok and go to your account settings.
- Navigate to ‘Security and Permissions’
- Find ‘Apps and Services permissions’
- Search for Dash Social and delete the integration to revoke the brand’s access to your metrics.
What Happens After You Revoke Access?
The brand will no longer receive updated metrics about your posts. However, data collected while the connection was active may still be visible to them. Any user-generated content (UGC) stories shared while connected will remain accessible to the brand, but new content posted after revoking the connection will not be shared. For Instagram, all feed posts remain visible to the brand regardless of the connection status since these are public.
Best Practices for Managing Brand Connections
- Review Regularly: Periodically review your connections to ensure they align with your current collaboration interests and privacy preferences.
- Understand Permissions: Be clear about what data brands can access when you connect. Always read the terms of any connection request before accepting.
- Secure Your Accounts: To protect your account from unauthorized access, maintain robust security settings, such as two-factor authentication.
By carefully managing your connections, you maintain control over your digital presence and ensure that collaborations continue to benefit your brand as a creator. Always take proactive steps to secure your accounts and review connections periodically to align with your evolving content strategy.
